The tragic accident

The recent car accident between Ferrari and the Sonata cab had brought up a lot of hype around the news and social networking.

The most disgusted that I read in forum was a guy who robbed the injured passenger in the cab!

Further to add on, one netizen also blamed on the cab driver who start off fast upon the green light; isn't the driver  suppose to check the traffic (left and right) before moving off.

With this comments given, I guessed that netizen have no sense on what is actually going on at all. Coming at such high speed from Ferrari, the driver would have came from Illuma, then beating the red light, and where the accident had been occurred.

It is not as if the cab driver had some sorta long distance eye power. How would he anticipate the oncoming car at the speed? If he know, such tragic accident will not happen at all!

By checking left and right, yes a must to do that, but isn't the car supposed to stop at red light instead of beating it? Everyone will have the mentality that the vehicle will come to a stop, be it whether it is going to do an E Brake or not. But at that speed to stop, the chances of hitting the cab is still very high. But, maybe smaller impact? It is hard to say.

So, what rights do that netizen pointing the deceased cab driver is in wrong when the video already shown that all vehicles in that lane have the right of way? It is show as green, means you can move off.

It is horrifying and heart pain to see this car crash from another fellow cab driver, who had the DVR installed. At least, this cab driver is able to provide some evidence! 

Thanks god that he and the passenger are safe. If they were in line with the other cab, I am pretty sure that the injured and death toll will rise.

Rest of the comments, I do not want to say on any further.

There will be a lot of debating between the two class and nations. Surf on forum, you find a lot of ridiculous comments. Read on this morning Strait Times as well, there are fellow people from the same nation are disgusted as well.

Not a happy ending after all

And the sad story begins....

I'm quite speechless right now after I realised something about this company. It led to a real disappointment.

What I'm saying here might even hit you, but I felt that it is always good to pour out and let the other people know.

I know my leaving from current company is on the eve of the CNY eve, but I am seriously quite sad that some of my best pal/coll went on leave. There's nothing I can do also because everyone need to go home and do some spring cleaning. Well, it is quite pity initially until I realise more things.

I had tendered my resignation last month on the 15th, which means my last day is on the 16th Feb. But due to CNY period and 16th Feb is holiday, my last day of work is 12th Feb, Friday (which is yesterday)

During this period of time, I see no movement from any coll to organise my farewell party. I am neither upset nor hurt, but more on disappointment. I seriously cannot believe that it turn out this way. I am not trying to compare or to say how badly I wanted the party. For goodness sake, I worked for 6 years and this is what I deserved with no actual farewell party organised by the company?

To think that my department threw a small farewell makan session by surprise. I kinda know who actually organised it as she is the only one who will care for other people feeling.

Sorry, I felt that if someone is leaving, it is better and nicer for us to approach the person first rather than the person approach us by saying good bye. I am not trying to be calculative but the proper way.

To be frank, I am always the one who approach the person, making jokes and taking photos. Now, when it come to me, who is leaving the company, I get nothing at all. Damn disappointed or not?

I really cannot believe that my boss actually mistook my last day of work. She took I am still around after CNY tho. I do know she is very busy recently, but I was wondering why and how come no one actually reminded her? I can assure you that my other coll, whom I do not want to say, told me that she cannot believe that my farewell party is not organise at all and no one inform the boss about it.

How amazing this is how I spend my last day at work. To think my wife and I prepared the gifts to everyone in the office but yet, the returns and outcome is not as I expected. I even prepared my speech to everyone but guess that it gone down to waste. How ridiculous.

But anyway, I do received an envelop containing X numbers of voucher from some of the coll. While I do appreciate that, but the whole feeling and atmosphere sure sucks big time.

Whoever is reading it now, if you are me, what kinda reaction will you give and express? I can tell you, IT FUCKING SUCKS!!! 

Reflecting back to my ex coll and interns (about 8 ex colls and 5 interns), they do have a proper and nice farewell makan session and gathering... totally disappointed and realised how unimportant I am. Anyone in this type of situation will know my feeling and thought. That's why I'm speechless when I decided to blog it out.

Any hoo, I felt that I grown up a lot from this situation. No wonder this year (Tiger Year) for Monkey will grow more mature; beside that, also for my new job and responsibilities. After blogging this before CNY, it will be in history and a day I will never forget for life.

Someone asked me a question and I was surprised that both A and B felt the same way as well, thought there will be something else for me. But yet, it's a no-no. Sorry, I do not want to reveal it out. It shall remains as secret, but all I can say is that I am not the greedy type. I am just someone who want others to appreciate me, doing work and fun + laughter. Well, it turn out negative.

Boo... to the past.

Now, welcome the Tiger Year, everything will be cool, great and interesting!

All my items had been lelong in office because some of them wanted this and that. At the very last min, I took some pic to remember as memory.

As I said before, luckily I took lot of photos when our intern finished their term. But seriously speaking, I am way too disappointed till I wouldn't want to take my camera out and start snapping with the rest of the people. Personally, it end up with no happy ending after all.

It's only when I left the company, I have the feeling that I should not lost contacts to them. It made me wanna meet them up for casual makan and coffee often.

So long, peepz! That's all I can say for now and it's a sad history after all. May you guys have a good working time together and thanks to my close colls as well. Thanks Mag for doing the hand written card at the very last min and present.

Back and resting

Ex Wallaby Frame 1 ended and now, there's continuous training for frame 2 and 3 over there. When we board the SQ Boeing 747, quite a number of soldiers were queuing up to past the custom. They also have to wait for the coaches to send them to Camp Growl in SWBTA.

As we board the flight that they just landed, it delay the take off time for an hour 30min or so due to refueling. Everyone concussed while waiting. Estimated arrival time will be 4.40am instead of 3.30am in Singapore. But we end up landed in Singapore at 5am.

My family are unable to fetch me because dad need to work at 5am. So, Kok Peng, Jack and I shared cab home.

It is good to be home tho. But immediately I feel the pressure over here than OZ. Everything is slow, listen to command, relaxing, but we have to handle lots of stuff here, which make me feel giddy over it. But life goes on, strive hard.

NS man feel demoralise because we are back to working life. While some NSF are happy because of ORD. Congrats to the ORD personnels.

So my service pay is to the company as well

Apart from Make Up Pay, company are liable to receive the Service Pay as well.

The CSO called me about this situation and clarify that if I am away during office hour, company can claim everything from MINDEF.  Whereas going to RT and IPPT, I liable to get paid as it fall outside the working hour.

So as to say, Service Pay is part of Make Up Pay due to income loss. I tallied the amount of money of what I saw on the NS Payment and my manager e-mail earlier on.

Damn! I thought that I gotten extra money from MINDEF but to my disappointment.

In fact, I can ask for that $455 credit to my bank from company because of my overseas training. Anyway, I do not want to see any drop in salary on my pay day which is on 28th, so I never ask further on.

Sadness to the max. Why NSman do not have allowance at all. Maybe the place where we stay, I reckon.

Better to be late than never

It is better to be late than never. Of course, I never said it is really good to be late tho. Just that, you never know why the people is late or never turn up now... who knows... maybe forever?

I was traveling along KJE to BKE and met heavy traffic jam. Saw the road sign on top flashing that jam started from Mandai area. Luckily all vehicles are able to crawl. When I entered KJE, accident site is just right in front of me. 4th lane had been block due to the collision.

I was about 400m away and saw white cloth on the road, which I am hoping it is not! Just as my car was crawling near to the site, my heart sank. I felt so sorry and my mind went blank within a flash of secs. I saw the expressway patrol police office carrying a circular blue case, which I believe is the blue tent to cover the body.

As I crawled slowly, my head turn to the left and saw the end of the white cloth contain blood stain. Body had been placed on the road shoulder and I can see bloodstain dripping from the lorry dashboard. The front of the lorry was totally smashed up due to the strong impact against the back part of the sand carrier heavy vehicle. One of the police officer was in the driver seat taking information from that heavy vehicle.

2 expressway patrol car and 1 LTA motor marshal were at the scene.

The back of the lorry contain cover which is meant for delivery.

My condolence to the lorry driver.

That's why I said, better to be late than never. Be safe on road, driver & riders. Life is precious, treasure it!

Evaluation up!

Evaluation Summary:

Data loss due to windows reload. Partial recovery expected due to partial overwritting.

Price Summary
1. Cost of recovery is S$800.00 (inclusive of all parts and lab services). ADRC will offer 5% Discount under Home User Assist Scheme. Final cost of recovery is S$760.00.
2. All prices must add 7% GST extra.
3. Estimated time taken will be 2 to 3 working days upon confirmation.
4. Confirmation of quotation could be done via email or fax.
5. At this point, job could be cancelled at S$50 evaluation fee plus delivery charge (if any). Please inform us at least 4 hours for arrangement of disk to be returned. We will not accept cancellation of job upon confirmation of quotation or successful data recovery and in that case a full fee will be charged anyway.
6. If recovered data is less than 10 GB, it will be delivered in DVD free of charge. Otherwise please supply us a data drive to do the data transfer.
7. The fee does not include extra service to reconfigure/copy/transfer recovered data into new/working system.
8. No charge if data is not recoverable.
9. Quotation valid for 14 days.
10. We will keep the damage disk/media for a maximum period of up to 2 months. If the user does not claim it from us by then, we will proceed to scrape the disk/media for reasons of data confidentiality.
11. The price is based on job complexity and does not depend on the amount of data recovered.
12. Additional 5% surcharge will be imposed if payment is done online using Visa/MasterCard and PayPal.

ADRC trip later

I will be dropping by ADRC (Adroit Data Recovery Center) later as I will be taking 1/2 day off. According to Felix from ADRC, whom emailed me on Sunday, stating that partial recovery is expected. Cost range from $500 to $700.

Remember I mentioned about the issue that I cannot retrieve anything except the Window using their program?

By right, which Felix said, it should be able to. But they have to do a full recovery first.

I am hoping that most of the data can be recover. Because, new data written on HDD sector after formatting might have overwrite the old data. What I know of is that writing data on HDD sector is by randomly.

Since the incident happened, I decided to upload full size photos to my flickr account instead. It will take longer time because of the photo size.

Counted myself lucky that I never format the SD card from my camera since 4th July.

Shall not say so much, I'll let the result tell me when it is out.

My last resort

To be honest, I do not really feel like blogging now because I am so devastated. I kept on blaming myself for such mistake occurred. Even my coll, Keith, also shocked that I turned to be so paranoid.

Anyway, I just want to log this incident... to those who are interested on my issue.

I would like to thanks all my friend, coll, wifey's forum friends and their hubby concern. Both of us are very thankful for the support. Much as I want to get the data back, I think it is better for me to approach the comppany to do it for me.

William, on the other hand, helped me a lot as he drop by my house yesterday night to do until 1am!

GetDataBack (GDB) software did not work for me as my computer rebooted suddenly when it is trying to copy data to another HDD. So, he suggested that I should get the software from ADRC site which cost USD7.99.

All thanks to his help on my computer, I managed to start up my Window XP finally. Initially, there's no Window in the computer at all. After fixing, it is running well for my Window. I cannot imagine that I dare not to do anything to the computer. You can see HOW paranoid I am already.

We used ADRC software to search for data on the HDD.  We waited until 1.30am but we can only see the latest program which had been installed to the HDD. Apparently, the program we found is Window. I remembered that I am using DOS mode to format and it will install the Window as well.

We have to wait at least for another hour before it finish scanning. So, both of us decided to heard out for supper then Mustafa.

It was already 4am when I got home and to my surprise after I switched on my LCD, I realise that the computer rebooted! So I have no choice but to redo today.

I just did 2 scan, but did not see any of the image files at all apart from Window folder/ files! Stated on the screen under latest modified date, it is 3rd Aug nd 7th Aug. So, where's the rest of the item before 3rd Aug?

Frustrated, lost and devastated of me, I decided to give GDB program a try once more.

This time, I saw my images filename during scanning session! Weird?

According to William after I told him that I saw 4 file system after scanning, he told me that I have to scan and retrieve it 4 times! This is because he have no idea where the files are located at also.

I had emailed to ADRC for help and hope to get the reply on Tuesday. Let's hope that the charges is not too high for me. Stated on their site, home user, student and non profit organisation will be cheaper because they understand.

I had learn my lesson and paid a high price on it. Photos and videos are important to me, I am willingly to pay for it to get back my data. Look like I gotta eat grass from now on.

It is not getting any better

Retrieved done.

The next step is to copy the information from 1 hdd to another. I am overwhelmed when I saw my photos folder name e.g. Sister AD wedding, Pulau Ubin Trip etc... been copied.

When I got back home after fetching my wife, my computer rebooted.

After that, I went to G:/ (the one been copied to) and make a full search. Luckily I did not format my old HDD because I found a lot of problem!

I saw 5% of my photos only! I am feeling so frustrated, depressed and letdown!

It took me a while to open every single folders and found something unusual! I saw the exact same folders and files for 3 times! It was hidden in one of the folders.

So, I end up unable to find the photos I want!

More depress....

When i checked my G:/, a total of 913GB files been retrieved but there are 3 same folders/files found.

So I decided to try the scanning again. To play safe, I copied the photos and information I found to another hdd in my computer.

I deleted the entire folders I retrieved in G:/ and I am shocked to see my photo album title: HongKong and Bintan trip!!! I am certain that I made the search but I cannot find those!

I was wondering that if it is because I chose not to overwrite the stuff thus it created the same thing for 3 times.

Tonight I am going to retrieve and copy the stuff without the deleted files to make life easier for me.

Everyone, please pray for me... It is the worst disasterous moment for me! I will not feel easy till I find back! The last choice is to approach ADRC.

Make sure you format the right HDD

I made a terrible mistake when I want to format my damn HDD on Monday night.

Seriously speaking, I have no idea why I want to do it swiftly so I just went on formatting my C drive.

This is a little tricky.

Previously, I have new HDD of 500GB for my C drive but according to William, it will not take up full capacity at all, hence I think I used partition magic to make it 300GB and 200GB partition for my HDD. So during formatting time, I think system went a little crazy!

Since I am facing problem for my explorer task bar and I also felt that certain programs are not running well, I decided to format it off.

I know I should back up my photos drive folders and files to my external HDD, but I didn't.
I know I should plug out the cables from the remaining HDD which is NOT C drive, but I didn't.

These are the 2 big mistake I made.

I have no idea why it format E drive when I hit C drive initially. But strangely, I do not know why I never off the entire computer to prevent it from carrying on. I just let it continue the job.

When it had been formatted, it went to the same screen again! I saw that there's 3rd option for me to choose! Remain intact etc...

I reboot to check my C drive! No Window show up at all.

I carry on formatting my C drive. I forgotten what happen afterward.

When I boot up after it had installed Window, I found that my 3 HDDs became 128GB! My music and photos drive were gone!

My ex army mate recommended me to go to ADRC to retrieve my data back but the pricing is way too expensive. Even William also thumbs up to this company too.

I pleaded William to drop by my house yesterday and offer to treat him dinner, fetch him from workplace and back home. Thank godness he is able to. But I apologize for spending his 3hr in my hse.

He used Hiren Boot CD v9.9 to check my data and I am able to find my all my music folders, but not my photos! So he used one of the program in it: {GetDataBack}, to retrieve it.

Before retrieving, it will take up 2hrs to scan it through first.

After scanning, it will prompt you where to place the files. I am lucky enough to have my 3rd 1TB HDD which is meant for movies tho. I deleted my  entire movies in order to allow the recovered files to be copied in.

Thought I am able to get all the files back when I woke up this morning,  but it hit 7% only because  Window pop out to ask certain question if I should continue. Look like it had been paused for 6hrs.

I am going to retrieve 2 times. 1st time with deleted files and 2nd without it.

From the Window I saw yesterday, I found all my previous project that I done before! These folders are at the root of the drive previously, luckily it did not rename the folder name. Everything are intact.

But I have folders that I cannot find at all because of the change of name. They are misc photos from 2006-present but they are stored in another folder under root directory. One of the folders which had been renamed to numbers include my daughter first month photo!

I did not spectifically check all the folders because there are too many! (I just skip to check randomly) The folders did show quite a bit of images in it, same as my deleted files too.

Hoping ALL images will be able to retrieve back.

Next time Im going to make sure all HDD cable taken out when doing formatting! My OS drive is gonna be just 50Gb!

When my mom and wifey heard about the situation, both of them really feel so sad about it. But luckily I always made an effort to upload to flickr and youtube!

Im going to do backup every week!

I am traumatised for this incident!

Last day of internship for Inez Tan

Since we had 2 Inez(s) as intern in our office before, I decided to add their surname as well. They are Lim and Tan.

Time really fly so fast! Almost no one remember that Inez last day is today! Perhaps the lounge music is quite emo, that's why I am feeling sad tho. Soon Jared will be finishing his internship too. So, when will the next intern be reporting?

After Jared finish his internship, our audio department will be back to normal life (again). No intern to help out on CD updates, calling for Fedex and some cranky jokes to make. Those are fun, don't you think so? Memorable what! Ok... I EMO'ing, can?

This morning I am pretty late for work due to traffic jam at CTE which I am just 300m away from the exit! Reach office 9.45am and had meeting at 10am.

After meeting, boss call up for pizza. Mac delivery had been done the day before.

We really have great time in meeting room and seriously, everyone DID NOT WORK for more than half a day! Shiokness

Thanks WT for bringing the camera today! Because Inez forgotten her's and my Nikon P5100 cam must remain at home as there will be photos of Cait always.
