Finally, my BIS is running well!

Days ago, I posted my frustration over Blackberry Internet Service from ST over here and here.

Right now, everything is back to normal!

You had been warned and aware about the Leaked OS that might cause some instability as stated in the site.

Let me do some simple explanation tho.

I had my BB OS downgraded to .446 and faced the same issue on BIS when using the DM (Desktop Manager). My friend, told me to use .545 OS, which I did. But under DM of application loader, the OS did not show up at all.

And I thought that, why not I use the official .593 OS which been released not long ago.

After loading the application loader, the OS did not appear again! Way before, I had NO issue having the OS been read on the application loader and I have no idea why it can't now.

I searched on Hardwarezone forum and Crackberry forum and found out that I must use loader.exe to install the OS.

Why use that loader.exe?
I do not know as no one seem to give me the answer.

First of all, download the firmware as given on this blog, then run (install) it.

Next, locate Loader.exe at C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\ResearchInMotion\AppLoader

Install it.

You will see your BB start to install the OS.
Wait.

There might be chances WHY you cannot install the latest OS, or the OS you want.
The reason is very simple.
First of all, remember to run the installer to your computer and locate Loader.exe

Once you are there, right click and Run As Administrator

Then, you will more thing shown on the window. That means, you are doing the correct things! I had it installed several times but still can't get the OS updated until I search on the forum!

Now, the whole BIS is much stable on my end!

Although, the people in the forum will say that the leaked and official OS are no different at all, but I will urged you to flash the official one. That's how my BIS get it going now.
At least, it will auto switch to GPRS instead of staying put on 3G with BB logo only.

I am happy with it finally!!! But still finger cross.
If you are not able to get back to the BIS, remember to turn off the network and switch on later.
Just before I forgotten:

GPRS is using BIS
gprs is using BBoM.

As stated by one of the forum people.

And, I also found out the reason of my number 6 button!
It is due to the theme that I downloaded!

Finally, all the doubts had been answered!

The BIS issue

BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) had been cranking up from ST recently. Since 4 days ago, quite a number of users are facing the same fate as I do.

3G with BIS just simply do not connect at all. When one of the forum poster told me to use 2G instead, I am skeptical towards it, but I am wrong! Because it works like charm! But, excuse me, ST... Why is your 3G BIS sucks big time till using 2G is almost perfect for most user these few days?

I am convinced that it is not the Bold 2 9700 Blackberry is causing the issue, but the telco of the nice RED square. They should really look into this issue as quite a number of user had called in to raise this problem.

So, last night I called the Singtel helpdesk for help, the CSO understand what is going on and quickly refer me to Blackberry technician support. I can understand where he is coming from when he thought I am using 3G network only. I am on 3G & 2G network all the while.

I explained to him that, even on 3G & 2G network, the BIS still cannot get it connect at all. He also explained to me about the coverage of 3G... Oh dear... our lovely Singapore 3G is really that lousy till not all area are covered with it?

Let's not talk about that since I am not guru in this. Hence, I asked him this question which he is speechless about it.

"Are you going to tell me that Bukit Batok, Jurong East, Toh Guan and Choa Chu Kang do not have 3G coverage? Kidding me, is it? I am under the open sky and yet I still cannot get my BIS connected tho... You know my meaning?"

"Hold on" as he said.

Coming back and tell me... "there might be issue with your 3G SIM card. I suggest you to change it"

"Am I suppose to pay or what?"

"Ok, I will waive off the SIM card cost for you"

After that conversation, I quickly went to West Mall Hello shop and get it exchange. Within min, the SIM card is activated.

3G with BB logo works fine tho it is a little cranky at the start. Set my BB to sleep mode and awake when the alarm rang. At the same time, all messages come in at one go. I was, of course happy with it for a while.... BIS start to fail again!

Switched to 2G, it works... back to 3G & 2G, it failed... Kinda irritating right?

I was about to call ST during noon time when I saw the 3G with Logo had been there for 2hrs at least... I can BBM! I did a check on the service status under manage connections and it is connected.

(Just when I am about to finish this blogging... the 3G with BB logo disappear again....)

Just to make myself happy.... Thank Pamsong for sharing this video clip in her blog.
Lovely huh? Shall try that IF I can!

Headache about BIS and IPT!

At your own risk, download the latest OS 5.0.0.593 for BB9700 from Crackberry now!

If you are skeptical towards the leaked OS, do not try to attempt to download it. If you do anything wrong, that is your own issue and not mine or anyone. You had been warned.

But let me briefly tell you that it is working really fine on my end now. Rebooting seem to be faster than before, and the selection of scrolling tend to shrink down on the font size to indicate what you are looking at it. Of course, it is highlighted too.

After than that, I have come across any major improvement but I do feel the stability.

And also, after having the OS upgraded, I tend to have some issue on the BIS, which I am not alone at all. Some of the forum poster in Hardwarezone Forum are facing such issue. I am at least less worried tho.

The greatest issue I am facing is the dropout connection of the BIS. It only works after I reboot my BB9700.

Oh yeah, to reboot it, press Alt (left button) + Aa (right button) + del. Hold on for 5 seconds and your device is rebooting.

After rebooting of the device, it will get disconnected after 30min-1hr max. No matter what I do, I cannot get the BIS connected at all. Battery pull and off the network done.

I called the ST CSO this morning about this issue and she told me to do a total wipe out and restore it after I backup the information first.

There's a setting: General Setting found under Security Option. But, according to my 9700, there's no such selection for me. There is only security wipe.

Hence, CSO telling me that this phone is not under Hello shop and it is not under their record. I gotten this phone from a ST retailer shop at People's Park. If there's any issue, I must head down to comcenter.

Since she determined that her setting and mine are not tally, she insisted me to bring back to the shop first. If I were to go to Com Center, I must bring the authorise letter from them.

Oh well, as I thought, I decided to do the restoration as the CSO told me to do so instead. Surprisingly, it works for 1hr and the issue come back again.

I have no idea if the new OS is the culprit. I have no dropout after I upgraded the OS last week, it started to become haywire since 3 days ago.

Earlier on, one of the poster in forum told me to use the 2G network instead. OMG, it does work! But isn't that purely stupid to use the 2G instead of 3G? I have to monitor this method and resort to downgrade the OS before heading down to ComCenter this Saturday.

****************************************

First IPT session begun last night. I was alone and thought it is going to be a damn boring training session until I saw someone familiar! Who knows! My bro in law was there as well! Now I have khakis for this IPT training! To think I have the entire marks as 0! Haha!

There's a new scheme call E-IPT. Training is for 9months and will be monitor by the government. Of course, it is actually the PTI who monitored and you have to PUT in A LOT of effort to train up and able to pass by the end of the 9 mths training. I really wonder WHO will signed up last night.

I am looking forward to this date of training: This Sat, next Mon-Wed-Sat and final day on Mon. Then, I will have my IPPT on May in the morning! This is a good news for all. You can go ANY day you like, so long there's a day break in between. Means, you can clear the IPT within 2 weeks. Just that, you have to wait for the IPPT on the 4th week. No sweat!

All in one posting...

I love my Blackberry each and everyday!

I gotta thanks my pal, whom I just knew from HWZ, for telling me so much things regarding to BB.

Before I forget, do remember to set your apps usage data to TCP/IP if you had set to your BBoM previously. At least for this case, you are utilising the BBoM of 12GB given by Singtel fully. I just got to wait and see how much I have to pay this month. I dare to say my bill will be a littler high due to changes of plan recently. Let's finger cross about the additional charges.

Blackberry OS leaked had been spread around recently. You can find the information through CrackBerry and... just in case you want to be spoon fed, HERE/THERE you go! OS 5.0.0.566!
1. Always Backup your BB first.
2. Download the program on your PC
3. Run it
4. It will prompt you to restart your PC
5. After reboot, open your Desktop Manager with your BB9700 connected to it via USB
6. DM will detect new OS found
7. Run it.
8. Approximately 10min+ of installation.
9. After installing, do a pull battery as to restart your phone.
10. Congrats! You got a new OS leaked!

OK, here's some of the review of my own. You can choose to ignore if you think it is load of bullshit. I am not a real hardcore user of BB anyway.

After pulling of battery, the loading of BB is pretty fast as compared to the past. It took about 1min tho... For non BB user, do not be stunned as the old OS take longer than that.
Button and navigation seem very responsive.
Lock your phone on the top of the left corner and you will not see anything except black image. Locking and unlocking seem a lot of faster as well.
Font size bigger.

That's what I notice about the new OS and my friend agreed as well. For new firmware of BBM, it just does not work OTA! I guessed that they might have removed it! Sigh...

Anyway, do remember to do a backup of your BBM as they provide free usage for you. Luckily for that, I am able to retrieve back my BBM contacts!

Love my BB so much now! I shall wait for the new release of BBM anytime soon!

Introduction - Program

BTW, my mister nice guy coll, Jien, introduced me one good program on how to care your system.
Advance SystemCare PRO

Find it not bad and pretty easy to use, hence I decided to share it over here. It help you to clear and fix lots of things, especially the registry part. I guess that I might buy it since the cost is not that expensive, which I really need to care for my PC also.

Here's one great site I just found through SystemCare program.
FreeNew is great because in there, you can tick what you want to be in your system and with just one click, it will automatically downloading everything for you! Just imagine, you have 20 sites to go individually for downloading and that really caused a lot of your time. And for this, it will DO everything for you! Cool huh? Try it! You never know about it!

Worst Moment - Surprised!

OMG! Guess what? Just when I blogged about my camera issue, it.... suddenly revived!

Yah... How I wish there's sponsor knocking door on my email.

Alright, I was merely testing on my charger which I firmly feel that it should not give me any issue until I had my batteries charged for 2hrs and the other one for 1 whole night. I had the batteries slot in my 5D and I saw batteries icon showing 100% full! I was overwhelmed at that time and find out that the battery I used had been charged for 2hrs... and it is showing me no error! So, the main culprit = CHARGER! The full charged indicator bluff me through!

Ok, save the money of 3.7K for Canon 5D MKII at the moment! Phew... I thought of selling it off since there's no problem already but one of my pal suggested me to leave it as spare cam... which is very TRUE and agreeable!

Thanks to those who drop me a message about my camera fate... Appreciated.

Blackberry data conclusion

There are a lot of confusion due to Blackberry User especially from Singtel carrier.

Let's not talk about both M1 and Starhub telcos as their BIS plan max capped at $30+, which means that the max you are paying for even you use it 24hrs 7 days a week.

As for ST user, there are few plans you have to look at it properly.

BBoM = Broadband on Mobile
BIS = Blackberry Internet Services

In order to be safe while using the data plans, it is better for you to get BB Flexi Plan at $48. This include 12Gb or BBoM and 3Gb BIS.

If you have 3G Flexi plan (which is also BBoM) and BIS (1Gb or 3Gb), it is still consider safe unless you are using BIS only. But, your APN must remain empty as it is default. If you are using unlimited BIS, you are also in safe zone.

By chance, if you have set your APN to Internet or e-Ideas, you will incur extra data charges if you did not subscribe for BBoM.

There are no different between both Internet and E-Ideas at all. Just that, E-Ideas allow you to get information like 4D. Sorry, I have no idea how to get that but your BB Browser home page will load as E-Ideas at the start.

1GB BIS have some restriction as it will block you from using the apps, like Facebook, WLM, BB Browser and Apps World.

If you want to make full use of your 12Gb BBoM, you can go setting and use as Internet or E-Ideas. BB Browser, streaming of radio allow you to do that.

Username: 65IDEAS
Password: IDEAS

Remember, if you are on BBoM / 3G Flexi only, you will not incur extra data charges from BIS as it need to get activated first.
