Back in pixelated green

The return of army

The return to green is wonderful.

The usual practise - wait for instruction and a get together session.
We had shifted to another camp somewhere in the north, rather than in Gloucester Camp, located at Portsdown road. It had been demolished for future development.

Everything is neat and intelligent. The used to - manual work, had been take over to machine for more efficiency. Is this because of 3G? I shall say no, it's all for the good.

A better place to work in, and also better in controlling because it is very regimental and finally, the entire battalion is now at one place.

As it is no longer a standalone camp, we have to obey rules from the security areas before entering.

The most important part is seeing the buddies whom we had not met for a year. We have 3 more years to go through, and then I shall see the word : M R (Mindef Reserve)

Thanks all

I had a bad fall during my IPPT last Tuesday. As a result, I was on MC for 2 days due to chest pain, whereby it lie on my wrist facing down, which is really painful.

I am feeling nauseous at that point of time, and unable to continue my remaining test: 2.4km run.

As this is the IPT-IPPT, the WO allowed me to skip the run and considered me cleared it with a fail. At least I did clear tho.

That is the first time ever I had such a bad fall! I was taking the shuttle run, and right after I tapped the metal bar on the floor, turning back straight result me to go blackout. The slant image made me ran to the left and then, I collapsed on the floor.

Deep cut on knee cap, long scratches on arm, chest pain and giddy are the aftermath due to the fall.

Thanks to those who concerned on mine and wifey's Facebook, I am feeling a lot better now!

Good effort but a little boring

I should say.. our local CyberPioneerTV really did a good work for producing such a show for others who are interested in SAF and recruit to be.

Apparently, I know this is a hard work within the production teams but I felt that it can be even better.

Truthfully, I find the entire video is a little let down. Why do I say so?
When you watch a movie, what is the most important thing that urge you more? Visual and sound.
Shall not talk about the visual because of the limitation of what they can do, but the sound.

If there's more VO introduction, musked away instructor, I think the whole segment will be even better. Let's not forget about the music underneath it.

These are the things that is lacking of it. Audio play a big part in a show if you wanted to create more awareness.

I'm sorry, but I really feel like voicing out tho.

Maybe I shall give an example of what I meant.

I am not comparing the military but the entire production made.
But lets all give them a pat on their shoulder for making this video. It is good to show the rest of the world on how we, SAF, trained from boys to man during their BMT months.

Part of my emo moment

Good day to all.

It had been weeks or days since I last blog here. I am so busy recently till I have no time to rest well.
After my 2 weeks of ICT in camp, whole family went to Genting the next morning and we have to meet at 6am to take the coach up.

It is a fun and great trip for us and we treat it as bonding session tho.
It is never easy to bring a baby to holiday tho. There are too many things to take note of. Granny was extremely happy to go to Genting with us.

For more blogging post on Genting, I will post it on the-ongies entry. But I do need times to process the photos and upload it. Currently, there's issue with my home internet connection, so blogging of the trip will be delayed.

Going back to camp is fun as I met some of the guys that went to EX Wallaby with me last Oct/Nov. Of course, there are more new birds who look lost and wondering what the hell are we doing. They take times to digest during the course time and NS lift.

It is only when you are a NSman, then you know the wow moment.

This year, our camp will be moving off to another location.
All of us will miss this place badly as we been through during course time since 1 decade ago. Nevertheless, we are glad that we left 4 years of ICT!

I shan't not even go into details about why and how.

In short, we miss the place. I am wondering, will the CO or OC call us back to have a last look of our camp and proceed to the new and bigger camp ground?

Oh yea, I am glad to receive my Good Service Medal this year. This is for all NSman who gone thru their 5th ICT. Wait a min, this is my 6th year of ICT, ain't it?

Anyway, all good things have to come to an end. After out-pro from camp, we need to take times to adjust back to civilian life.

My stress level is up once again after knowing that my dad wanna go for surgery on his eyes and mom's pay been cut as her boss wanted to close one weekend off.

I have to be optimistic. Since my mom do not need to work on Sunday, she can help to take care of my lil girl at home while I can work on Sunday if there's any job require me to do so.

Jobs for me, people? Any?

I appreciate so tho

Back in the old days

Every man will be happy to receive their pink card despite of the color. Now, they own 2 cards, which is green and pink.

The beautiful letters O.R.D. is smiling on them indeed.

After years slogging hard in school for further studies or work, it is time to meet up the old buddies not in casual wear, but in green. A letter will be sent out to inform your duty call is from this to that date.

Way before, people started to use their phones to call out using 10cents coins or even, page their fellow buddies if they are still using it. That's how everyone get contacted and report to camp for their national duties.

Now, you see the way how technology evolves. From just a 10cents coin phone call to pager then with a mobile phone! Isn't that easier to contact rather than using a pager?

Almost everyone are using a mobile phone and that include kids!

SMS in and out.... "Hey yo... ICT coming up... let's meet up before heading to camp or what?"
That's what almost everyone are doing still.

How about now? I mean currently!

You have such a great technology to make full use of. You can even help your friends by giving them reminders!

Let's see.
We have Twitter, Facebook, Live Messenger and even WHATSAPP!

Now... who can't find each other? Unless the person deliberately wanna avoid or... maybe in the forest or mountain?

You just cannot find any excuses saying that your friend DID not inform you at all!
Anyway, SAF is so smart that they will sms and email you for reminder.

Don't worry.

BTW, I am SO looking forward to my ICT next week!

Holiday... let's go out instead!

The irritating flu caught me over the weekend and it is really really bad.
I just want a lot of rest but I can't due to taking care of Cait. End up, I gave up and started to rest and leave her to the rest. It ain't doing any good on me as the entire flu virus just wanna me to sleep. In addition, the weather is horrifying hot!

After a cool shower, I am feeling a lot better hence asked everyone out to Jurong Point since wifey kept insisting that staying home is so boring especially on holiday. I did forced myself to go out although I prefer to stay at home and rest, but the thought of the boredom will just kill me!

Just after 30min upon reaching JP, I began to feel worse than ever! Luckily for the hot food, I am feeling better again until today! Had the horrifying Char Kway Teow at Feast@ KPT! No wonder so many people prefer to take the fried hokkien mee instead.

Wifey was craving for shou la shou food and decided to get what she feel like eating! Next, they pass her a pager device which will tell her that the food is ready for collection since we are not seating in their indoor shop of KPT.

P1030534
A device to alert you that the food is ready. Quite interesting to see that for the first time.

Great concept.

Pillow is something we must get as I kept having serious bad backache. Luckily Courts is having Mega sales so without any hesitation, mom, wifey and I gotten 1 each. Hope that will cure my back issue.
Washing machine at home started to act cranky one of these days, so it is another got-to-spend-item real soon.

While trying out the pillows at home, I quickly took the pillow out from the case without realising the sticker is on my important area! Damn... It had been 'paid'! Ha! What a joke of the day!

P1030537♦
Oh dear... 'I'm' paid? Damn it... It got there without my notice!

P1030538
Damn embarrassing...

I'm planning to get some photo shoot done on the MBS and double helix next weekend! Hoping timing allow!
Now that I am recovered, I have to rush to do lot of photos that is in my drive for more than 3wks!

I just discovered that the sole of my running shoe from SAF came out! Damn it! I do not have any credits with me anymore, so I might have to SPEND the money to buy a decent running shoe! I can assure you that army sport shoe is very good! Worth it to get! But... now... you see... money from my wallet Just keep going out!

SAVE SAVE SAVE!!! let me chant into my ears....

New look

If you notice some disturbing and irritating look on my blog, I apologize. This is because I am messing around with the placement and some coding which I had been pulling my hair since 3hrs ago.

I am glad that the new look seem more refreshing and easy to navigate. On top right, you noticed some icons, this allow you to clicked on it and view the network I am in.
The down side of this blog is that, the skin seem to load quite slow. Bear with me tho.

Reason for changing the skin is because of some irritating issue, like having my sidebar been push down and all the buttons dot seem stretched! At least for this, everything is pretty straight forward.
I hope you like it as I do.

Nevertheless, I have finished my IPT 7th training today (stating on Wednesday instead)! I will be having my IPPT test on one of the Saturday pretty soon. At last, I have cleared the IPPT for this year window.
I did improve my stamina tho! Of course I am happy, but I can't seem run non stop at 2nd round.

Man, I have too many things to do.
1. Processing of photos for my friend, Rick, whom asked me to shoot for polish girls at his workshop last Sunday. Thanks June for helping me out!
2. Do a new blog skin for Ongies. I am renaming it to Ongies Parenting
3. Photo shoot on some jewellery
4. Meet up a guy and stylist for discussion of shoot.

Well, well... let's see if I can finish that! I cannot believe it is May and there's no photography portfolio up! How disappointing.

Just feel like blogging now

I know it is really late now... but as I am waiting for my phone to get the installation done, I decided to do some boring and no idea what to blog now.

IPT is great except for today. We were asked to run 3 x 800m but I only completed the first run and from second round, not even a quarter, I decided to give up. I got the urge to carry on running as the hype is there, but when I started to jog, I see the whole view as if it is falling from left to right and vice versa. Hence, stopped and start walking with my bro-in-law.

To keep fit and pass your IPPT is a... must or maybe not, just clear will do. If you intend to train up, do not get yourself strained and watch your heart. That is one reason, I have to stop carrying on running. It can be scary if I continue.

3 more training!

Yes, 3 more training days before I can go for my IPPT on Saturday morning and that is finally can call it a year of IPPT clearance! I shall enjoy watching the rest doing IPPT during in-camp training this year on 17th May. I am excited, of course, to meet the rest of the gangs and attending the most of the guys that hatred.
A pity that quite a number of NS active guys had ORD since last Dec and early this year, and the remaining will be limited. Time to snook and disturb them, being a lao jiao  now.

Hoo-Haa!

Oh yea, ex OC of my unit had finished his contract with SAF, and he is now on his own doing other stuff. Sadist.... all of us witness the most exciting part during the EX last year.
All the best, (NS) Captain Low.

Headache about BIS and IPT!

At your own risk, download the latest OS 5.0.0.593 for BB9700 from Crackberry now!

If you are skeptical towards the leaked OS, do not try to attempt to download it. If you do anything wrong, that is your own issue and not mine or anyone. You had been warned.

But let me briefly tell you that it is working really fine on my end now. Rebooting seem to be faster than before, and the selection of scrolling tend to shrink down on the font size to indicate what you are looking at it. Of course, it is highlighted too.

After than that, I have come across any major improvement but I do feel the stability.

And also, after having the OS upgraded, I tend to have some issue on the BIS, which I am not alone at all. Some of the forum poster in Hardwarezone Forum are facing such issue. I am at least less worried tho.

The greatest issue I am facing is the dropout connection of the BIS. It only works after I reboot my BB9700.

Oh yeah, to reboot it, press Alt (left button) + Aa (right button) + del. Hold on for 5 seconds and your device is rebooting.

After rebooting of the device, it will get disconnected after 30min-1hr max. No matter what I do, I cannot get the BIS connected at all. Battery pull and off the network done.

I called the ST CSO this morning about this issue and she told me to do a total wipe out and restore it after I backup the information first.

There's a setting: General Setting found under Security Option. But, according to my 9700, there's no such selection for me. There is only security wipe.

Hence, CSO telling me that this phone is not under Hello shop and it is not under their record. I gotten this phone from a ST retailer shop at People's Park. If there's any issue, I must head down to comcenter.

Since she determined that her setting and mine are not tally, she insisted me to bring back to the shop first. If I were to go to Com Center, I must bring the authorise letter from them.

Oh well, as I thought, I decided to do the restoration as the CSO told me to do so instead. Surprisingly, it works for 1hr and the issue come back again.

I have no idea if the new OS is the culprit. I have no dropout after I upgraded the OS last week, it started to become haywire since 3 days ago.

Earlier on, one of the poster in forum told me to use the 2G network instead. OMG, it does work! But isn't that purely stupid to use the 2G instead of 3G? I have to monitor this method and resort to downgrade the OS before heading down to ComCenter this Saturday.

****************************************

First IPT session begun last night. I was alone and thought it is going to be a damn boring training session until I saw someone familiar! Who knows! My bro in law was there as well! Now I have khakis for this IPT training! To think I have the entire marks as 0! Haha!

There's a new scheme call E-IPT. Training is for 9months and will be monitor by the government. Of course, it is actually the PTI who monitored and you have to PUT in A LOT of effort to train up and able to pass by the end of the 9 mths training. I really wonder WHO will signed up last night.

I am looking forward to this date of training: This Sat, next Mon-Wed-Sat and final day on Mon. Then, I will have my IPPT on May in the morning! This is a good news for all. You can go ANY day you like, so long there's a day break in between. Means, you can clear the IPT within 2 weeks. Just that, you have to wait for the IPPT on the 4th week. No sweat!

Recalling the memories 6

This is sure gonna be a long post due to photos. So, if it is loading slow, please do blame me.

I would like to finish off this entire blog about the trip before I start ranting off! Ha!

So, after the drinking session and some drunkard talking weird things, everyone finally resume back to normal in the morning. I am the first one to wake up and get dressed up slowly. I never expect Larry sitting outside waiting for his turn tho. Ha!

We had a very nice breakfast which I will say... much better than CQU.

P1010219
We wanted to eat Seafood initially but as the seats are limited, we move on to Red Rooster instead. Larry went to buy at Seafood stall and ordered prawns instead. He was looking around that lots of people had been gotten their orders yet! Prawn is the fastest to buy tho.

So everyone of us went to this shelter to have our dinner. It is NOT easy to eat it due to the sea breeze! It is 2 times stronger and colder than we came before!

Just look at Wen Chong hair for the proof of the strong sea breeze!

P1010220
After Yeppoon, back to Airport! We asked Major Sim to take a photo with us.
